Isle of Scalpay, Outer Hebrides, Scotland

Welcome to the Scalpay Linen Web Site

The Isle of Scalpay, Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

Scalpay Linen was established in 1997 to market the pure linen cloth woven by Sheila Roderick and John Finlay Ferguson - both of whom are also independent Harris Tweed weavers.

As time has passed, other types of
cloth has been added to our menu and now, as well as linen- both traditional and cutting edge in design - linsey-woolsey woven from linen and wool;  Hebridean tweeds woven from island bred sheep (the wee black ones!), and Hybridean tweeds woven from Harris wool and Hebridean wool is on sale to visitors to our loomshed and by mail order.

We are also spinners of wool and other fibres - from our own sheep and customer-supplied fibres.

New Opening Times for 2012

During early 2012 Scalpay Linen is involved in a weavers' training project here on the Isle of Harris, so our opening hours are going to be different.  We hope this is not going to inconvenience our customers both regular and new.

The loomshed will be open for business from 1st April 2012 but please check on our blog - www.scalpaylinen.blogspot.com for projected weekly opening times.

Opening times will vary according to training dates

If you are travelling from a distance especially to see us, please do call beforehand to make sure we will be open.
